It's time for the federal government to stop paying for new highways. PIRG updated their US Highway Boondoggles list in October 2025. As for how to spend the federal gas tax going forward: repairing what we already have and allowing states full flexibility to spend on alternatives to driving.

We had a strong turnout again at our annual meeting in November. A highlight was our legislative panel, featuring Peter Wagenius of @sierraclubmn.bsky.social and legislative leaders Senator Scott Dibble and Rep. Erin Koegel. We also heard from Ken Bueller about the Northern Lights Express!

The Milwaukee-Kenosha rail project is shifting away from a commuter rail proposal in favor of a 2nd Milwaukee-Chicago intercity corridor. The corridor would return rail service to Racine, while increasing CHI-MKE capacity.
