Those of us with privileged, who can take time off with/without pay, must remember that the constant economic pressures on the poor and middle class might make a general strike simply impossible for them.

This is by design. People barely surviving have limited energy and means to fight oligarchy.

Life has never been fair. As a Gen Xer I’m acutely aware of this fact.

We like to think people will pay for being evil but more often than not, no punishment occurs.

This isn’t to discourage, but we can’t focus on prosecution. We need to focus on building something new and better.

I think you are missing the point. They stay in for the graft. Nobody is going to bribe…sorry donate to…a retired senator, they’ll move on to the person in power.

It’s the same reason Thomas (SCOTUS) doesn’t retire, nobody will invite him on trips or buy him luxury RVs if he has no power.

They screamed for years about Muslim Sharia Law controlling whole American towns. It doesn’t even matter that not all middle easterners are Muslim, racism trumps truth.

This priest gives me hope for modern religious organizations. America’s Christian nationalists are using religion as a cudgel against those they should protect. Other churches remain silent to “stay out of politics”. Remember, many churches decided to turn a blind eye to the Nazi holocaust too.

Schumer and Jeffries are too busy soliciting donations to worry about an actual platform.

In Portland, the police are protecting peaceful protestors and only arresting people who are causing trouble. Usually those are counter protestors.

Portland Police have a long and storied history of being terrible but right now they are protecting.

I’m pretty sure touching other people is against Mike Johnson’s religion…. Also against his religion are the following:
- Telling the truth
- Standing up to fascism
- Helping the poor
- Uppity Women who demand fair treatment

Most of his religion is just oppression and hypocrisy.
