Today is the anniversary of the death of Hildegard von Bingen. To celebrate her life and to honour her ongoing legacy, we’ve put together an overview of her influence on contemporary music

A really special project! And many thanks to #CarsonCooman for taking the time and trouble to record all 15 pieces written over the last 18 years.
Carson Cooman has recorded all of Liz Lane’s organ works, which were originally written as gifts for the composer’s father. Listen to them all here:

Thrilled that the organ music I’ve written for my dad during the past 18 years has now been published by @ComposersEd composersedition.com/organ-1-pian... & recorded by USA organist Carson Cooman composersedition.com/liz-lane-12-...
Huge thanks to Flowers Band and Paul Holland for the most beautiful performance of my ‘Serenata’ this afternoon in Cheltenham - and for asking me to say a few words before the performance. Brilliant concert! 🎶
Delighted to find out that two movements from my ‘Rhythm of Light’ will be broadcast on @bbcradio3 next Sunday evening on the Brass Banding with Hannah Peel show, recorded by Hepworth Band and conducted by Ryan Watkins. The music celebrates the life and work of sculptor Barbara Hepworth.
Thanks @composersed.bsky.social for the mention of Ruby Fanfare! 🎶
Composers Edition’s Rishin Singh provides an overview of our composers’ shorter orchestral works. Despite their brevity, these pieces make imaginative use of the myriad timbres and colours of the orchestra!

Thanks very much Mark, that’s kind! 🎶
Lots of steam and the privilege of playing the Broadwood grand piano at Eastnor Castle today.

Interested in commissioning new music but don’t know where to start?

Read all about the exciting journey the chorister Frank Norman undertook in commissioning a work from Liz Lane as a gift for his sister!

Really thrilled that my 'Beyond the Light' recorded by Grimethorpe Colliery Band with Jack Stamp conducting, was featured on BBC Radio 3 last evening in this exciting new series: www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m... (listen at 15.14).
Thank you so much @franknorman.bsky.social - what a lovely article! I hope the anniversary service and celebrations were really special. It’s been an absolute pleasure. @composersed.bsky.social
The anniversary anthem has been written, printed and sung. It will be published in May. Meanwhile, here is a blogpost from me about the process of commissioning it. https://occamstypewriter.org/trading-knowledge/2025/04/14/an-anniversary-anthem-the-gift-of-love/ #choralmusic

Whether through transcription of their songs, evocation of their flight, or reflections on their place in our lives (and ours in theirs), birds inspire Composers Edition composers working across a range of instrumentation and style:

Thanks for reposting!
@dodworthbrassband.bsky.social - sorry missed this, haven’t quite got in the habit of Bluesky yet! Thank you! Yes of course - always… 😊🎶 Hope your banding year has started well. 🎺 🥁
Thrilled to have my ‘Silver Rose’ performed by the Brighouse and Rastrick Band this weekend at the Royal Northern College of Music International Brass Band Festival, conducted by David Bremner & narrated by Micha Lazarus. Huge thanks to everyone & to Festival Director David Thornton for programming.
I too went to Cardiff for my undergrad, PhD and taught there for several years. I am pretty sure I wouldn’t be doing what I do now without the wonderful teaching and support I received. Please sign if you are able. Thank you. www.change.org/p/save-cardi...
Happy New Year! 🎶
Happy New Year everyone and thanks for all the music and friendships! Here are some 2024 performances in a few photos. 💖
Nice to see you, hope all well.
How exciting! Have a fantastic time.
My first Bluesky post & it’s a music one. 😊 🎶 Travelled to Perth this weekend (that’s the bridge on my profile) where the excellent London based Regent Brass & their conductor Alan Duguid played a piece of mine at the Scottish Challenge contest. Music is always so good shared with others. 😍
