Yes, but also: original, creative costume creation is a complex art I highly value in other contexts (e.g. theatre & film). Gauche fashion pageantry is one of the last American arts rich "patrons" support. Is it a fundraiser for the Met? I dunno. But even silly art has gotta be better than no art.
