I guess it depends on how detailed your story ideas are. For this, I think that you're right and 1/2 pages corresponding to 1-3 panel comics would be the right kind of size.
Who knows, maybe some characters and situations will click for you and you could expand it to a longer story.

Why not write the story in detail across threaded posts and then ask if any artists fancy creating images to go with your story?

I'd be curious just to read your story anyway.
