Jen Wright is an artist, working primarily in oils, acrylics, and steel, but her latest path is writing a children’s book!

She hopes that the story of #HawaiiMars brings her story to the next generation of aviation enthusiasts.📚

Her latest, #UncontrolledFlight, follows the twisty aftermath of a BC firefighting pilot’s death, and made several 2023 book-of-the-year lists!📚

Edeana Malcolm has written & published 9 historical novels.

Her latest, #MaidOfGold, set in the 1850s, is based on a story of 2 of her ancestors who travel to Australian Gold Rush, & circumnavigate the world by sailing ship!📚

We had an amazing - and timely - find in our #Archives today!

The cardboard backing in a frame indicated that it was made by a disabled soldier at the @redcrosscanada.bsky.social workshop in #yyj, AND the paper backing was old wallpaper with a #poppy design!

Quite a local connection to Canadian General Sir Arthur Currie: he 1st worked as school teacher in #Sidney!

TODAY’s #TalkAndTea, “Currie: #Canada’s Greatest Wartime General”, is by Regimental Chief Archivist Lt Col Vic Skaarup (Retd).

The #LogCabinMuseum is open 1-4pm today, featuring a special #MonthOfRemembrance exhibit.

It's #IndigenousVeteransDay, started after Kanien'kehaka/Mohawk veterans were denied placing a wreath during 1991 #RemembranceDay ceremony in Ottawa.

#Canada officially established the day in 1994.

DYK? All Hallow’s Eve (now #Halloween) customs are linked to the Gaelic festival Samhain. The eve & next day were dedicated to remembering the dead, including saints (hallows), martyrs, & family. Now it's a celebration of magic, mischief, & monsters! And scaring each other!👻

Margaret McCullough was born in #Saanich in 1893. Her family built/operated #ProspectLake General Store.
She grad'd St Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing & enlisted as a Nursing Sister, served #CanadianArmy Medical Corps in Canada/England.

W are sorry to to learn of the passing of Tim Cook - known as a 'passionate ambassador' for #Canadian military history, he was considered #Canada’s preeminent war historian.
