In the light of recent developments, I wanna say that I'm 100% anti-censorship and pro "create and enjoy whatever fiction you want". It's one thing not wanting to consume dark fiction yourself and not wanting it to exist at all. Your personal discomfort doesn't mean it should be banned or illegal.

Cartoon animal designs are fascinating cause they can be a collection of shapes that vaguely resemble a person, and the audience will project their own idea of how that character looks in their head.

For example, you can't look up fanart of these characters on a work computer.
