Tariffs are sales taxes. Sale taxes are harder for low-income families to pay. For example, extra $50 in sales taxes is 5% of a family making $1000 a week, while $50 is insignificant for a millionaire making $100k a week.
Let’s do an exercise. Before tariffs, importers were making 20-30% in profits when they sold those imported items to us, the consumers. And now that they have to pay 20-30% tariffs, their profits have gone down to 0-10%. So, are importers willing to make much less, or even zero, profit now? Really?

Yes, instead of fighting for what is right for her constituents, they are just quitting. They all passed the big ugly bill that will hurt their people… maybe trying to keep some distance from the disaster that is coming, but without the courage to do the right thing and fight back for them.

Today, after months of requests, I toured the Broadview ICE Processing Facility. I want to share what I saw.
The facility has no food vendor, no medical care, and detainees have to use toilets in the middle of shared cells. These are in no way suitable conditions to be holding anyone — period.
