I've been playing with real media for a month, studying other artists, learning, sucking at it, etc.

I went back to digital to doodle Lost Dragon.

I'm able to fit all his elements in now - glasses, goatee, busted horn, mane..

Why mad: I rolled dice & they told me "angry expression"

Lost dragon looks left. Oh man, he's pissed off. Maybe someone is standing on his tail and they won't stop talking about their upper tier steak dinner while he's standing in line for thin broth wearing glasses he found at a thrift store. The s and the p of "shut up" have stems that drizzle down the side of the wall. Lost has hair that stretches down to a mane, a truncated horn, glasses that magically perch on his muzzle (so no stems - they just get in the way of his face / eyes). He still has his earring too but you can't really see it because it's in his other ear. He has tiny scales that I just indicate with a few lines that look like w's. For one this saves me drawing a lot of scales, for two I think it makes him easier to read. Here he's super pissed with lips drawn back in a snarl, lower jaw jutting out a bit (lower teeth too), his goattee is slanted back, his glasses are slanted forward aggressively, his ears are swept back, and whisps of smoke are coming out his nostrils. His eyebrows are drawn into a frown. Honestly Lost doesn't really get angry that much but I could get used to it. Okay, well, I learned a lot about expressions doing Loona fan art & she's only ever angry lol. This is exactly the same as the last picture but without the "shut up" text behind it. I quite like this one. I kind of wish I'd drawn it bigger - it was a doodle and it turned into something. Maybe I'll blow it up and ink it later in the week. Technically I guess this is inked already since I just draw using the g-pen but if I ink it I'll fix the line weights.

And now it is TLoS version of Red (In TloS his full name can be Reddus or something like that), how I imagine him. I decided to give him more traits of fire dragons from TLoS and elemental markings on his scales.

Working on this giant Lavi makes me realise how much I’d love to make more badass large dragon figures. And how much I’d love to do it for my own dragon characters… but besides the times and financial cost it would take, where would I put them? We don’t have enough space 😭
