You keep the pumpkin skin raw to carve, which is why it’s so difficult to work through. There are special tools to help, though. You’re right, it would be too soft to carve if it was baked.

The shells usually get placed on a baking pan and go into the oven to be lightly toasted!

I don’t do it every year, but I’ve carved pumpkins in the past. The shell is really tough to go through and I’m not a huge fan of scooping out the seeds, but they’re a fun decoration :-) I know a lot of people like to bake the pumpkin seeds, so that probably gives them more incentive to carve them!

I have lots of orange, green, and purple string lights hanging around my house! I also have a toy skeleton in my hallway and an inflatable Jack-o-lantern on my porch with a “scaredy cat” mat!
