Saw a hysterical news bit on this SCARY NEW TREND KIDS THESE DAYS ARE DOING and it's just Assassins. You know the dorm game where you sneak up on people and shoot them with a water pistol? That we did when I was in college in the 20th century.

RFK jr's new food pyramid was literally the plot of an episode of South Park.

When are you allowed to feed a Mogwai again after midnight? Sunrise? Does it count if the sun is occluded by the weather? Mogwai can't be exposed to sunlight, so how would their bodies know when sunrise is?

Seriously, though, how can anyone not see the issue with "When a federal officer gives you an order, you follow it or you die" as a matter of policy?

It is scary to realize how many people think that execution should be the penalty for the most serious crimes and also not immediately and unquestioningly following contradictory orders from law enforcement, and only the former requires a trial first.

Texas A&M is making a professor remove Plato's Symposium from a syllabus because it's "woke".
I wonder if they even noticed the bit where Pausanias explains that the highest form of love is when an older man provides mentorship to a younger man in exchange for butt stuff.

This may be too obvious but...

I feel like a monster, but I am looking forward to the needless excess deaths from this maladministration's policies. It's the only way we'll learn as a society. (And even then we will apparently only learn for like 40 years or so)

This isn't just about oil though. They want to link Maduro to Tren de Aragua so they can declare a drug gang to be part of the Venezuelan military. At which point, the US is being "invaded" by a foreign military, which justifies declaring martial law.

I was thinking about how we can't get a Star Trek future with Capitalism, because capitalism can't survive the infinity of Space.
But it's true on the microscale too. To preserve capitalism, the US needs to alienate its neighbors to boost scarcity; cooperation reduces scarcity and undermines greed

Venezuelan oil is extra-heavy sour crude, used to make diesel fuel and asphalt, not gasoline. US Refineries are designed to process light sweet crude. So the oil we'll be stealing from Venezuela is not going to lower gas prices; it'll just be sold on by US companies to non-US refineries for profit.

My brother in law and I got each other the same thing for Christmas. It is the most amusing thing to happen this Christmas season

The Duke Boys only needed to make it to the county line
Vance pushes back and says this was not illegal, arguing "Maduro has multiple indictments in the United States for narcoterrorism. You don't get to avoid justice for drug trafficking in the United States because you live in a palace in Caracas."

Pizza Hut is being REALLY overbearing with their marketing emails. Like, I order from you maybe twice a year. Stop sending me these creepily desperate emails EVERY DAY.

If you had a plan to reduce the Earth's population, why would you choose to spare only the Brave Free-Thinkers Who Refused The Deadly Vaccine rather than sparing the compliant sheeple who took the vaccine to save themselves from the deadly virus?

As far as I can tell, none of the "smart" robot vacuums have an option for "No, really, I have not moved you to a new house. Assume this really is what the map looks like and find a solution that aligns that with your sensors"

To paraphrase the Hitch-Hiker's Guide, it's a good time to reflect on how lucky you are that 2025 has been good to you. Alternatively, if 2025 has not been good to you, which frankly seems more likely, it is a good time to reflect on how lucky you are that you won't have to deal with it much longer.

I got Metroid Prime 4 for Christmas. I'm enjoying it, but I find the auto-aim to be much worse than the previous MP games and that's frustrating. Also, I wish there was an accessibility option to change the color of unscanned objects; with my colorblindness, it's hard to notice the green-gray switch
