Minnesota has witnessed horrific acts of gun violence and politically motivated attacks over the past year.

As Chair of the ACCAS Committee, I’m proud of the work we’ve done and ensure that every person who enters the Capitol can do so without fear.

Again the world is waking up to horrific news of a killing at the hands of Donald Trump’s untrained federal agents.

Enough was enough before a federal agent shot and killed Renee Nicole Good. 50,000+ Minnesotans marched yesterday to demand this violence ends immediately.

Minnesotans are meeting the moment.

In the spirit of Dr. King, we remain committed to standing up for our neighbors in the face of hatred and building a society with equal opportunity for all.

Dr. King’s words and actions were driven by love, faith, and a deep commitment to justice.

He challenged us stand up for our neighbors who are suffering, and to fight for love over hate. I see Minnesotans living those words every day.

We deserve answers.

Two days ago it was Elissa Slotkin. Last week it was Jerome Powell. Before that, Mark Kelly. Weaponizing the justice system against your opponents is an authoritarian tactic.

The only person not being investigated for the shooting of Renee Good is the federal agent who shot her.
Breaking news: The Justice Department has issued subpoenas for Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey as part of an investigation alleging that they are impeding federal law enforcement officers’ abilities to do their jobs in the state.

State investigators have been on the scene after last night’s shooting in North Minneapolis.

I’m stunned by the continued use of force coming from these masked agents.

I’m angry. I know you are too.

We can’t give in to the violence - that’s exactly what Trump wants.

Minnesotans are rightly concerned with the presence of federal agents in our cities, especially as multiple U.S. citizens have been arrested.

Our administration remains committed to safeguarding the civil liberties of all in Minnesota.

It was an honor to meet this amazing 6th grade class from St. Francis Middle School.

I got to add to their growing list of signatures from governors and lieutenant governors on their prized trophy - the Governor’s Belt.

@smith.senate.gov, they need your signature!

Grateful to see the good folks from Native Governance Center at the Capitol.

In Minnesota, we’re setting an example for what government-to-government partnership should look like.

Know your rights, Minnesota.

Stay peaceful and don’t give the Trump Administration a reason to escalate their theatrics. We’re with you.

Our country is once again mourning an unacceptable act of targeted violence - this time against members of the National Guard.

I’m praying for the victims, their families, and all of America’s service members.

For the second time in the past week, federal authorities sowed chaos and fear in St. Paul without any warning to state or city government.

Minnesotans want answers.

Donald Trump wants to pit us against our neighbors as he fails to deliver on his failed promises of making life more affordable.

Minnesotans want to hear plans for lowering costs, not divisive rhetoric. We deserve better.
