I’ve poked at FreeCAD and some others. Maybe next time around I’ll make the switch, but at this point the opportunity cost of learning a new program outweighs the savings. I’m bought in, unfortunately.

I think every time you post something praising a brand you should have to disclose, at minimum, whether that brand has sponsored you. And preferably how much they spent. I'm not joking, it's at the point where I don't trust major voices in the community because they're all sponsored up.

Who's designing parts A, B, C, D, and E? Don't worry about it. You're busy designing Brackets and Adapters. Maybe if we feel like shaking things up we'll give you a Fixture.

First they tell you to attach part A to part B so you design a Bracket. Then they replace part A with part C so you design an Adapter. Then the scope creeps to add part D and you create another Bracket. Then they want to rework the unused part A into part E and you bet your ass that's an Adapter

I'd say more than half of all the parts I've ever designed at my various mechanical engineering jobs have been called either "adapter" or "bracket"
