Auschwitz was at the end of a process. We must remember that it did not start from gas chambers.

This hatred gradually developed: from ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder.

Auschwitz took time.

Have you met the Wikipede? In another universe, maybe it has been Wikipedia's logo for over two decades. Community members submitted many designs, proposed changes, and debated them openly 🧵⬇️ (1/5)

This is how free and open access works. There is no way to have a free and open access project and then go “wait, no, not like that”.

I'd recommend this article to people, but I'm biased because it opens with "Ian Ramjohn remembers the first time he edited Wikipedia" #Wikipedia25

This is of course a tangential point to the fact that Trump posted an image claiming he's "acting president" of Venezuela.

But with such a recognizable Wikipedia element I was curious whether vandalism had slipped through or if they're faking Wikipedia screenshots almost as an appeal to authority.

“Wikipedia represents something unprecedented: the only major platform on which truth emerges through transparent debate, rather than algorithmic opacity or corporate interests. Every edit is logged, every discussion archived”

Use the Wikipedia app.

It’s funny how Wikipedia used to seem relatively unreliable, because it was written by regular people instead of encyclopedia experts, and now it seems relatively reliable, because it’s written by regular people instead of glib CliffsNotes robots
wikipedia turns 25 today! the last unenshittified major website! backbone of online info! triumph of humanity! powered by urge of unpaid randos to correct each other! somehow mostly reliable! "good thing wikipedia works in practice, because it sure doesn't work in theory" - old wiki adage

Although this image appears to be a screenshot of a Wikipedia infobox, the Wikipedia article about Trump never showed this (even as brief vandalism).

It's either photoshopped or someone used the edit preview feature but didn't (or couldn't) commit the change.
