This Labour Government is delivering on living standards. We welcome the Warm Homes Plan for cutting energy bills now, investing in warm, efficient homes, and tackling fuel poverty at its roots - showing that raising living standards means acting on the costs families feel every day.

NEW: Labour has launched the Warm Homes Plan, the biggest ever investment in home upgrades in history:

✅ Lifting up to 1 million families out of fuel poverty
✅ Tackling the affordability crisis
✅ Delivering new rights for tenants

I have been working with Michelle, a Basingstoke mum, whose two children have special educational needs and disabilities, to better understand what's going wrong in the system. Michelle joined me on Monday to discuss the recommendations in my SEND Crisis report

It was great to host Minister Macdonald to brief the Climate Change APPG on the government's Clean Energy Jobs Plan.

I asked the Minister about how the transition to clean jobs can support bringing down energy bills and ease the cost of living.

For those wanting to read my report on the SEND crisis - I have now published an interactive version on my website!

Today I launched my SEND report
The report brings together what parents, early years practitioners and SEND charities have been telling me about the reality of navigating the SEND system, and what needs to change as the Government prepares its reforms.

Another smart, green start-up choosing Basingstoke.

Thanks for having me Re-Tyre!

They’ve developed world-first technology that extracts high-quality rubber from old tyres so it can be reused in new ones. The whole process is waste-free, even the water is recycled.

Good to spend time at Basingstoke College of Technology meeting Principal Anthony Bravo and the senior team to talk through current challenges, from T Levels and the new Ofsted framework to better support for young people who are not in education, employment or training.

With backlogs for driving tests still so high mistakes like this are so damaging for learners.

The Govt has announced the Road Safety Strategy – the first in over a decade

It sets out bold plans to:
• Cut deaths & serious injuries by 65% by 2035

Energy networks made £4 billion in profits under the price controls set under the Conservatives... and households paid the price

Today I asked the Minister on how the new system will clamp down on profiteering and help bring bills down

Officers in Basingstoke can earn £1,000 more just by moving to neighbouring forces like Surrey or Thames Valley.

That pay gap makes it harder to keep experienced local officers and hurts community policing.

Vital insights from Basingstoke for the Government to take away from Kids Nursery regarding early years SEND.

Improving access to funding; SEND navigators to support families; investing in a skilled early years workforce; making sure Family Hubs strengthen local services.

Great to catch up with the team at Chennai Express to talk about the Top of Town, how we can better support small businesses locally, and their plans for the future.

Consistently great food and service, and a real example of the independent businesses that help make our town centre thrive!

Spoke with local pharmacists about Pharmacy First. It helps people get care quicker without a GP appointment. Thought this was useful to share. More info 👇

BREAKING: Interest rates down AGAIN with Labour

Telling a Black British man to “go home to the Caribbean” is racist. Full stop.

No amount of spin can excuse it. Nigel Farage should stop ignoring racism in his party and drop the candidate immediately.

Conservative austerity saw budgets for youth clubs, green spaces and clean streets slashed by cuts

Basingstoke Council had cuts of £3 million, this Labour Government is boosting our council's spending power by almost £4 million

Great to chair a meeting of the Climate APPG with Michael Shanks, Minister for Energy.

Discussing the Government’s North Sea Future Plan. Managing existing oil and gas fields responsibly; delivering on Labour's commitment to not issue new licences; protecting jobs and creating jobs for the future.

Jane was born right here in Basingstoke but her influence reaches around the world.

Her work is part of our national story of creativity, humour & social change

Today we should be celebrating what unites us and what we have contributed to the world

Good to see reports that we're moving in the right direction on driving tests locally🚗

This won’t be fixed overnight. Govt changes to booking rules & hiring extra examiners will hopefully reduce the backlog further!

Enjoyed chairing a conversation with Treasury Minister @torstenbell.bsky.social for the Living Standards Coalition yesterday, digging into what the Budget means for people’s wages, energy bills & travel costs. Positive steps taken - plenty still to do to raise living standards after the last 14 yrs

Today in the Treasury Select Committee, I asked the Chancellor how her capital allowance changes will actually drive investment and growth 📈
