Lovely soggy family camp in beautiful Northumberland. Genuinely couldn't be happier, despite the showers! ☺️

Interesting, Sitka *spruce* is a non native *pine*?

How many native options that provide the same benefits of Sitka do we have?

Maybe it's time to start substituting non native wheat with some more local alternatives as well... 🤷‍♂️

Inspired by the call for more visibility of forest managers from the #ICF conference. I'm trying something new over on the dreaded tiktok. Let me know what subjects I should cover next?

I was talking to a colleague last week who's been working on commissioning some of the first large scale ones in the UK.

I told him I had already commissioned thousands this year and he had literally no idea what I was talking about 😂

To be fair, I think most of theirs are going directly on...

Inspired artwork or pipedream? I got to try my hand this week at making a pitch for integrated land management to a bunch of colleagues - think I came away with a few coniferous converts!!

Great day to be out yesterday, inspecting a young woodland which turned out to be showing signs of heavy Elatobium defoliation.

Wondering how much more prevalent damage is going to be in future especially with warm dry Spring weather like this. Watching @forestresearchuk.bsky.social studies closely

It was very moving to hear Chris give his retirement speech at the Conference! What a life of service and dedication to the art & science of growing trees.

Happy to chat, George. We all recognise there is a need to get together to solve this problem.
