During her two weeks away, she’d missed the wolves a lot. Had read about werewolves online. Found the blog of author Vulfgang Mulder. Quickly pieced together that he was, in fact, Wolfgang. And read the story of how he and Marcel had fallen in love.

And while silently hating herself, she got changed. Visions of what could have happened in two weeks of being imprisoned left her trembling. And what was worse? Maybe she hadn’t been taken. Instead…

Walking inside, a sinking feeling invited itself in her gut.
The prevailing scent was Idrina’s. She’d kept on working on the house, even as Rory was away. It now stood, empty. And there was a chance their alpha would never get to enjoy the fruits of her labour.
The silence pulled guilt out of her.

Isi cringed at the pronoun ‘we’. Something in her didn’t like the idea of sending the teen out too.

“She’s on her way. She’ll be here in an hour and a half. That’s enough time to deal with the wolves, so they don’t have to see her.”
Thinking about it, that was probably better. She sighed. “What a mess.”

Strangely, he seemed relieved at the order. And as he was turning around, Isi grabbed his arm, adding for clarity: “Everyone, Lou. Including the ones that aren’t part of our pack, okay?”
She only let him go after he nodded, turning to Seki who was already hanging up the phone.
