Coming up on my YouTube channel are two Retevis PMR446 radios, the H777 in a very fetching bright green colour and the RB639, I haven't filmed much recently on the channel or done a lot radio wise due to personal reasons but I am hoping that should change soon
I've made it to 1800 subscribers! let's see if I can get 2000 before the end of the year #hamradio #youtube #youtubers
The 18650s, despite not being an Amazon Prime product, arrived today, the solar panel, charger for the 18650s and some RF adaptors that may be needed are scheduled to arrive this afternoon, once the case arrives I can finally start building the MeshCore repeater #LoRa #MeshCore
The rest of my main MeshCore repeater is slowly coming together, today I ordered some 18650s and a solar panel from Amazon as well as a zerofox3d Hermes enclosure to accommodate the RAKwireless RAK19007 board, hopefully that will keep me busy #LoRa #meshcore
Being a radio ham has its advantages, my energy provider told me today why I got cold-called by a company called MPAAS, I told them the issue could not be fixed due to distance between the electricity and gas meter without a ZigBee repeater, why they decided ZigBee was a good idea I will never know
One of the things I do to test PMR446 radios is place the radio next to my kitchen window (only window I can do this not having window sills) and set the radio to scan, have a radio there now and PMR446 is very active today with the typical traffic expected #pmr446
Another set of Retevis handhelds appeared on my Amazon Vine recommendations, this time the H777 in a rather bright green colour, again same as before, review on Amazon then they'll feature on the YouTube channel #PMR446 #hamradio #retevis
So again it looks like Amazon Vine came up trumps with radio related stuff, this time the Retevis RB639 PMR446 radios, as with the previous radio product I will write the review and then feature them on my YouTube channel after that #pmr446 #hamradio #retevis
I haven't gone through the change logs as such, I briefly seen it mentioned on the official MeshCore discord this morning so not sure
MeshCore have released their latest firmware which I have flashed to 3 of the 4 LoRa devices I have, the one I haven't done is the Raspberry Pi Pico which I am planning on putting into a waterproof box, so it makes sense to me to upgrade it then #LoRa #MeshCore #hamradio
I am hoping to get my tape measure Yagi tuned somewhat today, potentially also going to try for a QSO through one of the FM satellites if I am lucky, potentially SO-50 as my radios are programmed for it #hamradio
I have decided my tools are in serious need of organisation so have dug out my old toolbox which was in a very sorry state inside as not long after I moved into the current QTH in 2017 the hot water tank sprung a leak and flooded it so it has been thoroughly cleaned out
Have finally put the 2000mAh battery onto the Heltec Wireless Tracker after the RAK Wisblock board finally discharged it until the cell protection kicked in rendering it a bit safer for me to cut wires and splice another connector on #hamradio #LoRa #electronics #meshcore
I've been participating in Amazon Vine for a while now and not much radio wise has popped up, today one of those ATS-20+ receivers popped up so I have requested one which of course I'll be reviewing for Amazon then looking at on the channel afterwards #hamradio
Have chatted to one of the locals on MeshCore today, first official contact on it since I started using it, I was sat at home and they were down at Tesco, so it seems to me that there is interest in it round here
Because it is possible I'm going to clip the Heltec Wireless Tracker to my sunflower lanyard when I go out today, I'm still waiting for the 2000mAh battery meant for it to finally discharge to safe levels so for now it has to run off a 600mAh battery #LoRa #meshcore #HamRadio
Case for the Heltec Wireless Tracker is now finished and assembled, not my design, one I found on Printables, for some reason both the front and back halves of the case have a space for an antenna socket #LoRa #meshcore #hamradio
the 3D printer is on making a case for my Heltec Wireless Tracker, that way I can get it enclosed sooner rather than later, the only outstanding issue for that is the battery which is currently on a discharge to make it safe to work on #LoRa #meshcore #hamradio #3dprinting
I am discovering how power efficient the RAK Wisblock is, I need to discharge the battery for the Heltec Wireless Tracker to change the connector but the RAK Wisblock is very slowly discharging it, it is around 90% and it has been connected for a few hours now
The RAK Wisblock I ordered has arrived quicker than expected, it came pre-flashed with Meshtastic but I changed it over to MeshCore repeater firmware and have gone through the initial setup, I will be putting it in an enclosure next month #hamradio #MeshCore #LoRa
I took delivery of a Heltec Wireless Tracker for use with MeshCore, it works ok and the onboard GNSS receiver does work with MeshCore, I've got it connected to a 600mAh battery but I did order a 2000mAh battery though I will need to change the connector #hamradio #LoRa #meshcore
The tea of choice of the discerning ham radio operator, Yorkshire Tea of course #YorkshireTea #hamradio
Going to attempt to go out for a walk to clear my head, whether this will help I don't know, I'll take my Yaesu FT2D with me and have that beaconing APRS, I'm not going to go too far though #hamradio
