La belle dame sans merci by Frank Bernard Dicksee version of Hans and Henry from Kingdom Come Deliverance Illustration showing the characters from my book Niketas and Ulvar, but mermaid AU where Niketas is a merman. They are both underwater and Ulvar is dying. A pale changeling sitting in water in the deep dark green forest An easter witch flying on a broom towards Blåkulla, a cat is standing on it as well. Both have glowing yellow eyes, staring into the camera. Birds are flying around them.

Obligatory La Belle Dame Sans Merci study 😂
A study of the painting La Belle Dame Sans Merci, featuring a man in armour standing before a woman on horseback. They both have brown skin; the man has shoulder-length blonde hair while the woman has long and flowing black hair, atop which rests a flower crown. She's leaning over the saddle to smile down at him playfully, while he stares up at her with a devoted expression. The horse, which has a black coat and wears armour pieces that matches the man’s, is stamping a foot and staring at the ground. Painting of a man on horseback leaning down to kiss a shepherd, who is holding a lamb in their arms. There are two sheep in the foreground. In the background, an overjoyed sheepdog is bounding towards the shepherd and the traveller. The background is a yellow grassland with a forest and mountains in the far distance. The sky is bright blue with soft clouds. A low-angle close-up drawing of two people lying on the grass at twilight. The image is focused on the person at the back, who is gazing at the person in the foreground with an expression of adoration and dawning comprehension (he just figured out he's in love). The other character, whose face is slightly blurred due to the camera focus, has her eyes closed with a peaceful expression on her face. A portrait of Fitz and Beloved gazing into each other's eyes while touching tenderly. They are both painted in an ethereal way, bright and glowing and golden; the outlines of Fitz's form fade indistinctly into the dark background.

I've been working in sketchbooks more as part of a class assignment; here are some of my recent sketches 👉👈 I've been trying to draw what comes to me in the moment, and not worry too much about the output or making everything perfect, but also put time into each to make it feel 'done' as a sketch.
Graphite and white charcoal sketch on toned paper of a woman with stylized hair Graphite and white charcoal sketch on toned paper of a figure with a stylized owl headdress. The wings of the headdress cover the figure's eyes. A graphite sketch of a a face surrounded by a sphere of churning, splashing water A graphite sketch of a beared man with a sword plunging through his forehead and out his chin (in a stylized, non gory way).
