A Publix shopping center and two new residential developments near Boones Creek Road are a step closer to breaking ground after the Johnson City Planning Commission’s approval last night.

Downtown Johnson City may soon get a little brighter, following the city’s approval of a new mural at its meeting Thursday.

Ahead of the approval, I spoke with David Zayas, the internationally-renowned artist who will install the mural on State of Franklin.
