‼️Quick Update: I’ve learned that the auto dub voices are generic and not using your data (YET). Realistically, it would be difficult and take years since there are millions of channels but I assumed based off of other opt out features. If more people leave an exit survey, it won’t be a possibilty!

There's a lot of pro voice actors who unfortunately got their voices put into the machine, other companies put your faces on ads if you opt in, so I fear the worst with a lot of this stuff but I don't wanna spread misinformation. We gotta start reading the ToS more these days

‼️ Here's how to disable these settings in YouTube Studio. Only doable on PC, not mobile

Viewers don't have the option to do this and it makes sure your audience doesn't have to toggle through the video languages

It's good you can opt out but it's just really unnecessary to add generated voices

Go to YouTube Studio and click on settings. Then scroll to Upload Defaults, click the second tab which is Advanced Settings. Scroll down to Automatic Dubbing and uncheck all boxes.

🛑 PSA for creators 🛑

Please remember to go into your YouTube settings and disable automatic dubbing! I use captions for accessibility plus no one asked for this. There was backlash then and now because it’s a garbage genAI feature that replicates your voice in other languages. Tutorial below ⬇️

No action is needed - we'll enable this on your channel in the coming weeks. Once enabled, when you upload a new video, we'll automatically add the dubbed audio to your video. Over time, we may also dub previously published videos. In some cases, we may be unable to generate the dubbed audio - you'll be able to see the status of dubbed audio in YouTube Studio.
Effective today, you can turn off automatic dubbing for your entire channel in your Channel settings > Upload defaults >
Advanced settings > Automatic dubbing.
