Kenma inwardly bites on his lip to fight back his own nerves, but he wouldn’t miss the expression on Kuroo’s face for the world

As he settles down, Kenma’s still looking away with a pout, cheeks as red as the heart-shaped apple slice on the pie

“I’m sorry, I know you don’t like an old man’s humor” Kuroo leaned forward on his forearms to meet Kenma’s downcast gaze with an apologetic smile

"It was the stupid one about the constant of pi- oh my *GOD* Kuro.." As Kenma collapses into his hands in embarrassment, Kuroo's resounding cackle echoes off the kitchen walls.

"March 14th?" Kenma raises an eyebrow in confusion as Kuroo quietly snorts.

"And what was the *one* question you got wrong on last week's algebra test?"

"Huh," he says as he slides the thick cardboard plate closer, "I get that it's for White Day, but why'd you choose pie?"

"Look at today's date," Kuroo's smile grows wider and he rests his chin on his hand again.

Glancing between Kuroo and his gift, lips still scrunched in a pout, Kenma reaches for the box and unties the ribbon.

Once the flap falls open, his amber-colored eyes light up at the sweet scent of cinnamon powder and the caramel glaze on the single piece of apple pie.
