Hey! I'm Melon a Canadian cosplayer who just likes to dress up like cute anime girls🥰Some interests of mine are cozy games, rabbits, japanese music, crafting, and traveling. I've been cosplaying for about 12 years, but only started professionally modeling and doing cosplay as a part time job in 2020

Body/looks shaming in the cosplay community… let’s talk about it. If you have been bullied for how you look as a cosplayer you are not alone. Body/looks shaming aren’t unique to cosplay. But as cosplayers wear their craft on their bodies it can mean that existing in cosplay community can expose us to frequent comments about our bodies. Some comments can be hateful and place pressure on us to look a certain way. Being insulted for how you look is not a reflection on your appearance! It’s is a reflection of systemic discrimination against fat people, people of color, women, trans people and people with disabilities that strives to create suffocating conditions in which people are allowed to exist. It’s a form of control, not criticism. If you see someone body shaming what should you do? -Say something. Being silent implies permission for awful behavior and messed up views to continue. -Challenge assumptions. Being fat isn’t laziness and being thin isn’t a sign of hard work. Question why when you hear assumptions or make them yourself. -Check in with how you talk about your own body. It isn’t just about how we treat others, but also how we treat ourselves.
