A member of the psychedelic rock band The Rainbow Press, he received an Off-Broadway Award for his role in Marc Blitzstein's Idiots First, collaborated with the experimental rock group The Hush, and recorded with the vocal ensemble Western Wind. His works — two symphonies, four oratios, and hundreds of pieces for voice, chorus, and orchestra — have been performed across North America and Europe at venues including Carnegie Hall, Avery Fish Hall, Alice Tully Hall, and the Kennedy Center.
