“If there is ever a magical beauty that can be watched hours with great admiration, and that is the beauty of a strong light falling from the everlasting skies into the heart of the dimness!”

But I’ll tell you what hermits realize. If you go off into a far, far forest and get very quiet, you’ll come to understand that you’re connected with everything.

Alan Watts

I could not imagine two better companions for a wander into the woods than Tanner James and Georgia Joy.

The last of the Amanita muscaria for this year, and the start of soup season. A wander in the village does the soul some good.

Summer dreams. The Kennedy River in central Vancouver Island is a true thing of beauty. My motorcycle trips out to the west coast are memorable.

Summer dreams, warmth that seemed to enter our very cores. Blessed, and grateful.

“How about this one, dad?”

Tanner thinks truffles are for kids [or pigs], and is now dedicating his autumn hours to the search for the real treasure, Amanita muscaria.

The big maple lost her green, but held fast her sturdy trunk and slender, giving branches. Autumn has truly cone to the village.

Into the woods we go. Here we find peace, and the camera brings me right into the present. Blessed and grateful.

Don’t you want a life like we saw on the picture show?
So come on, give me something, come on, keep me up all night
You say, my baby, all this time in between drives me crazy
I want a life on fire, going mad with desire
I don’t wanna survive, I want a wonderful life

Days of wonder, days we’d wander. Moss on ground, here to yonder.

Off-leash, free and wild, we wandered the moss and mushroom laden rainforests of the east coast of Vancouver Island. This spot never fails to offer up the beauty. A small dog with a big heart has turned the rescuer into the rescued, it seems.

Back in the faerie village that pops up every fall so close to home. The Amanita muscaria is clearly my fave.

Georgia Joy dreaming of the conejo that ran wild just outside of Tijuana, her home until a year ago.

There were days when the sound of the loons on the lake was the only thing that broke the silence. The scent of the wild juniper on the warm winds was the perfume that softened us.

“Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn and caldron bubble.
Cool it with a baboon’s blood,
Then the charm is firm and good.”

Magic in the village, autumn’s bounty.

Home from Gabriola Island to find that the Amanita muscaria closest to my home were popping up and were perfect!!

It has been hard up until recently to get a nice photo of sweet little Georgia Joy, as she is almost always on the move. Gabriola Island time gave us lots of opportunities to get out into the wilds, and I caught some images that I like.
