A Christmastide 🧵from the archives. 1/6 So many of the characters in the nativity are outsiders. This is a story that unfolds first in the lives of the marginalised, they are the ones who first recognise & proclaim the Messiah. Today’s gospel focuses on one of those characters, the prophetess Anna.

We pray for families, in particular families struggling with rising living costs and the extra pressures that this season brings. We pray too for the elderly and those particularly vulnerable to cold and illness at this time. We pray that we will form communities which nurture and support the vulnerable. Amen.

Warm Welcome at Meadowbank and Willowbrae will resume on Wednesday 7 January.

The drop-in sessions from Tap into IT will run alongside Warm Welcome for another 10-week block, from 21 January to 25 March.

There is no charge and all are welcome!

Join our worship team for the Monthly Monday service on 12 January at 2pm.

Monthly Monday is a short, traditional worship service, followed by chat and refreshments. Everyone is welcome, from any congregation or none. If Sunday mornings are difficult for you, we particularly encourage you to come.

We know Christmas can be a difficult time for many people. We are sending love to everyone struggling to see God’s light reflected in them and anyone who finds this period challenging.

Our Bereavement Service offered peace and a chance to reflect and remember loved ones. One person mentioned that she had left feeling uplifted and another found it very meaningful. We're glad to offer space for reflection and peace in the middle of the bustle of the Christmas season. God is with us!

A PRAYER FOR THOSE ALONE THIS CHRISTMAS Loving God, whatever happens, be with me this Christmas, especially when I find myself alone. Be with those whom I hold in my heart, whether they are near or far away. Help us all to hear the good news of the angels, and to reflect the light that shines in the darkness. May the world you came to heal know your peace this day, for the sake of Jesus Christ. Amen.
