I feel like when we say AI we need to clarify. It’s a really big broad umbrella just like when we say the Internet.

There are safe, approved platforms that are geared towards students which is where I think we should begin. Not just throwing them out into the wild wild west of AI.
manningtechtalk.bsky.social
I agree with the author that we need to teach students how to use AI l, but I like how Matt Miller talks about transparency and having the students hand in and identify what was done with AI. And of course, with parameters and directing them to approved, safe, AI sites.

I enjoyed this tough conversation with Paige! Read her article. What are we getting wrong? What are we getting right? How can we fix what’s wrong? Great article!

When researching what can go wrong w/ #edtech integration (at the classroom/building/and district level), I found educators citing the exact same problems today that they flagged 10+ years ago.

I went out searching for guidance on carving a path forward.

My latest for @edutopia.org:
6 Things We’re Getting Wrong About Tech Integration
Despite years of investment, many schools are still missing the mark on technology integration. Here’s what the experts told us needs to change—and how to get started this year.

AI is a huge umbrella!
AI that is embedded in platforms that we trust & have signed privacy agreements, then it is appropriate when monitored & guidelines have been established.

When managed effectively, it is a tool that students have to learn how to use appropriately! Just like the Internet.

Donna explains how to give students time and confidence to build their metacognition skills: edut.to/46Ut3Oq

#CriticalThinking #SpecialEducation #MiddleSchool #HighSchoolTeacher
“In my high school special education classroom, I like to recognize students’ effort in the lead-up to final outcomes. Not in a vague ‘You tried your best’ sort of way—more so appreciating the intentional choices that help students push ahead. For the last half-decade or so, I’ve called these small wins ‘the moves that mattered.’” —Donna Phillips, Educator
