Y'know I think a lot of people could benefit from looking up "the banality of evil" every once in a while

Tldr: a poll to collect player desired kits over the game life would be nice thought, and I think a lot of the time people would default to the current "best in slot" picks which would lead to an overall worse game because weapon diversity would be horrible

But regardless, the point I'm trying to make is that if we just blasting the best specials onto the kits we want, the less fun overall the game would be, when all the weapon kits play so similarly it's like playing a fake game like quad splash and machine were at the beginning of the game (8/X)

If you took any of the community desired kits and swapped out the cooler for missiles, I would guarantee a lot of people would be upset because of lots of reasons (missiles are bad, unfun, too spammy, not really punishable, etc) and their finely crafted kit would become another s2 kshot (7/X)

Because I think that seeing a paint buff the a main weapon (again, Brella) and then immediately thinking "hmm, this will allow it to spam the good special more if it had it" is incredibly short-sighted and also hinges on the special *continuing to be good* into the future. (6/X)

Going back to the idea of a poll, I feel like while the results of the poll could be very predictable (burst/torp/fizzy with some combo of "currently good" special) i think it'll be more interesting how those statements relate to future balance changes *especially* sub/special changes (5/X)

I've done my own thought exercise about which weapons should return if weapons had to be cut (like a year ago, this is outdated) and I think kits in general should play harder into archetypes (think the naut, bamboo, inkbrush kits regardless of if the kits themselves are strictly "good") (4/X)

The game already has problems with overlapping archetypes imo (splash and zap, rapids and rapid pros, scopes) but Chara's recent thoughts on sblast and range changes makes me think about how diverse the weapon pool currently is (65 main weapons) but with only a handful being pushed (3/X)

Cus I'm thinking about how a bunch of people want their backline of choice to have cooler or their painting weapon of choice (just brella, tbh) to have cooler and if the community was allowed to design the game it would lead overall to a more dull experience with fewer options (2/X)

One of the things that would have made for a good thought exercise would have been to ask people during the 1 year mark of splat3 and ask what their desired best kit would be and then do repeat surveys over the years and see how those kits change base on meta or balance shifts #compsplatoon (1/9) 🧵
