Commission painting (and 3d prints) available from https://kitbashbox.com/
Pinned
Hey, so if you like my painting and perhaps would like some of it in your collection then I'm available for commission painting and have a few prepainted bits on here already (tell your Star wars friends, or friends in general actually...)
I'm open to requests too. C'mon!

Does a wash over grey spray work for a base colour? Hmm... yes. Downside is I only had a bit of spray and my "standard" regiments are 3 stands so these being southern units I'm not likely to have one 2 stands oversize.
Meh, I'll work it. The extras will have a lot of strips to hide among.

Misc bits coming from my mom's and the mists of time. I made a Dryad out of a daemonette, had a few spellcasters and my lord in a tree is an old High elf character who won 1st place in the staff painting competition (public vote)! I could see these going into a new Dragon rampant army.

Unsure of exactly who I'll want in my ACW big battles I decided to just go across the states. My confederacy now has Virginia and north and south Carolina.
Seems smart to experiment my way through the southern colours as the north is going to be comparatively simple.
Just a few thousand to go...

Wait... December 3rd... @tomjmegan.bsky.social , is it go time on the #FestiveTankChallenge

Oh it's THAT time of year is it? Always fascinating how interesting this is as well as how inversely proportionally it is uninteresting to everyone else.

@nordicweaselgames.bsky.social I told you Whitechapel was one of my albums of the year!

Well the paint job turns out to be not all that different in the end. Light tone seems to be good for just changing an overall tone but is still very gentle.
Still, Director Ridley Cameron here looks good in his new rebel hunting environment.

The thing about having a nice stash of replaceable 3d prints is you can feel all brave about trying new methods and colours.
I may have messed this model up about 30 seconds after taking this but just maybe I'll have greatly improved it...
Maybe.

Did the missing details on my M3 and I have to say I think this is looking pretty slick.
Then for an encore I finished building my SS PzGren platoon. Almost time to break out the @sonicsledgehammer.bsky.social videos. I know I already got the paints in because I've no other use for sky green. Ever!

Ok, that's hard to argue with. £4 for the 5 parsecs compendium and £4 for Tactics? That's some upgraded Bug hunting!
One day I'll want the books but for today...

There is one last method for dealing with a double phase this blog missed;

Fat thumbs buggered a decal (replaced already), forgot a few details (I'll get them tomorrow) but otherwise I'm pretty happy with this one.
Decided to do Italy cos I liked this camo pattern.

One rapid PzIII done. Being 28mm this will either be quite the focal point in a game or I'll stick a fire/smoke marker on it and use it as terrain. I'm aiming for Barbarossa so burning Panzers seems quite likely

20+ years ago I bought all manner of interesting things I'd largely forgotten about. Lots of vampire based things too. Must have been Ann Rice's fault.

How to improve your (basic) speed painting.
1) find your ideal woman and have two kids with her.
2) wait till they are both toddler age.
3) try and keep doing your hobby.

It's a bit of a do or die method but there we are.

Had a profile pic change because 1) I like this one and 2) well, frankly "1" is reason enough.

Plan - PzIII for some Barbarossa fun, next bit of ACW prepped, pair of Grenadiers for Silver Bayonet, an easy 8 for the December tank challenge (shh, I haven't started but doubt I'll spray again this year) and an M3 which I think I'll take to Italy. No, Africa. No wait, Italy. No, Africa. Unless...

Its a good job I haven't got any money otherwise I wouldn't have any money.

Wait...
How about another Bluesky exclusive! Frame A of the Egyptian Archers and Spearmen set!
November 28, 2025 at 12:36 PM
I have a few 28mm Germans so that goes some way to explaining the PzIII.

As for the M3... well... I'm probably only ever 5 minutes away from painting up something for north Africa or the far east so may as well be prepared.

The amount of times I've seen Scrooged you'd think I'd have clocked the reference sooner!
Ho! Ho! Ho! To celebrate the holiday season, Wargames Illustrated's December issue includes a new 7TV episode - The Night the Snow Turned Red! Here's a collection of figures and terrain to support the scenario!

KMH sea monsters article submitted to Lard mag! Took from March to get it formulated, all of November to write out and then 40 minutes to get the files attached to an email that would actually send.

Glorious.

It's crossed my mind a few times that a second age Tolkien project could be fun but looking at some artistic interpretations of things in the third age again, well...
