That hard pressed rifleman has beat down another one AND survived an acid splash!
If that's not enough a groups of three burst out of the undergrowth in his face and he slapped the first one down immediately.

If he doesn't survive now I'm gonna riot.

And while running, in a classic mistake, the last scout gave the enemy his back (also rolled a 1 in his melee roll) while his pursuer remained focused (and scored a double 6 on damage) presumably tearing the scouts spine out.

Contact! The scouts found some resistance and in trying to show the aliens a classic example of "treating others how you want to be treated" they did no damage and the one left alive ran away!
Ivor attempted some covering fire but it was too tricky a shot.

After yesterday's simulation training (shut up yes it was!) we've deployed for real. 3 locales to search for likely alien egg clutches and if found to destroy before escaping back to the drop zone.
In a lucky start the first spot is right there!

I think I'm going back in tomorrow with a similar set up but different objectives. Hopefully HQ lets me take support this time and/or the threat level is lower. My jungle table is a dangerous place...

It's ok though because as everyone was evac'd the world faded to a series of black lines on a dark grey background and everyone agreed that had this simulation been real it would have been really bad.

I get that. It was a mix of noticing that if I have to coordinate with others I MIGHT get to play quarterly, seeing some of Peachy's solo vids and getting a box of Stargrave troopers with the deliberate intention of making a Bug hunt crew tipped me over the edge.
Now I want to make more enemies!

And that's game 1. All characters and all but 1 rifleman down.
Final tally has Frieda dead or at least unable to continue as a trooper, Sgt with a damaged arm, Ivor (an absolute hero) with chest injuries and "me" with light wounds (phew!).

Maybe if we come back with a tank?

7 troops vs 12 aliens, surrounded and we haven't left our drop off zone.

A couple of scouts jumped out but once again Ivor and his big gun keep us some space. He's on for a medal at this rate!

Ivor and the rifle team are getting it together and making some space. Freida brought Sarge back to our pick up point and apart from some movement coming towards our position we're starting to look like we can get moving.
(Green blips in the jungle were a questionable move though).

Day 2 on the hunt.
Sgt Apwnd is unsurprisingly downed, possibly bisected, and the rush is building up.
Blips are occasionally swapping places but mostly closing fast.
We've kicked an ant hill here.
