Peter me a compilation of some of the Ravens' behaviour over 20 months. They now come closer and are more interactive, sitting near me grooming each other, bringing fledglings and talking: culminating in the "water droplet" call. We may not understand one another but it doesn't matter! #ukbirding

Yes someone else said that. Just looking down the hill and cropped in!

Brilliant. Such a lovely moth. My Nicotiana plants have done brilliantly and are still flowering but no Convolvulus Hawk- moth!!

Lovely set of moths and great news about the dog 🥰

Fantastic. They are one of the best!

Aren’t they. I am always amazed by their beauty. Yes they are always released the following night a distance away so they are not re-trapped

Good luck Ruth. Don't know what it is like there but really promising here. Cloudy, relatively mild, a few midges in the air

I don't know!! Last year I got some winter moths that came when there was a frost on the ground. We obviously have hardy moths here!

I am not absolutely sure but i would guess about 7/8 degrees Celsius

Thanks! Fingers crossed they will come to you soon 🤞

Yes fingers crossed. I am not one to complain 🤣 but I would like a few NFY and maybe even 1 more NFG before the year is out 😀

When I checked the traps late last night it was cold and clear with no moths, so I was prepared for the dreaded Wogan! They were actually lovely traps 10/20 (VC58). Highlights: 2 Merveille du Jour, 2 Green-brindled Crescents, Pink-barred Sallow, Brindled Green & 2 Black Rustics #teammoth

Another new vocalisation from Chips today as he followed me. I hope you can hear it’s a kind of clunk clunk! I wonder if there are any Raven experts out there that can understand the different sounds and why he makes them. It’s wonderful learning about their behaviour every day #Ravens #ukbirding

Lovely birding walk. The Pochard was the highlight. It's lovely to see a Pochard anywhere but it is always much sweeter when it is on patch! Also: the Ravens were grumpy this morning telling a Buzzard off, Coal Tits, Nuthatch, Tawny Owls calling, Kingfisher, Pinkies, Mipits, Little Grebes #ukbirding

Well done on the L-album. Your garden is really good for migrants!

For me at 1st it was the awe of seeing such beautiful things in my trap. I admit now a lot of it is the lure of something unusual & rare! As I get more into it there is the interest of the geographical distributions/habitats when comparing with others & comparing with previous yrs etc So much!

The birding Autumn just took a spectacular turn for the better with a Common Pochard on Osmere. I know it is a relatively common bird but I have only seen one on patch once before and they are so pretty!😆 #ukbirding
