A reader (who wished to remain anonymous for reasons of naturalization status) passed along to me their version of a Battle Hymn of Minneapolis, which I now share with you.

'Tis, as they say, a banger.

No fog at the office. It is hanging out to seaward.

The first election I have a distinct memory of is 1988 when the matter was the original Free Trade Agreement with the US. My how times have changed.
Carney: "American hegemony in particular helped provide public goods, a stable financial system... this bargain no longer works. Let me be direct. We are in the midst of a rupture, not a transition... recently, great powers have begun using economic integration as a weapon. Tariffs as leverage ... "

Goose Spit, Comox, 2008. When I was in grade 12 in 1997 the up current bluff was largely unarmoured with only the lock block groins to help capture sand. And then the rip rap started to be added and the sand supply was reduced.

I have made an arrangement in honour of H.R.1238, Cartel Mark and Reprisal Act from R-TN-2.

Oh, the year was 2026,
How I wish I was in Palm Beach now,
A letter of marque come from the Don,
To the scummiest vessel I'd ever seen,

Going through old photos for a presentation. This view looking up the Halfway River from the Peace River is now flooded. Have one of the concretions as part of my office rock collection. Otherwise choss and sedimentary riprap at the bridge. But we are spoiled on the coast.

Going through old photos for a presentation. This was November 2009. Bill had more or less laid off all his staff (GFC and all) and it was just me and him auger drilling. I leaned that day that Caen is pronounced Kain in Chilliwack. Good crunchy sand and gravel there.

@astroalysa.bsky.social Probably old news to you. Cool news to me.
This is a staggering cool JWST image of one of the most terrifying star systems I have ever seen. Apep is a monster… *three* monsters, actually, and blasting out radiation and dust and junk at speeds to freeze the soul.

Read all about it!

A ridiculously jaw-dropping JWST image of a fantastically terrifying star system
Apep consists of three immense and immensely powerful stars blasting out a fierce dusty wind

@goingmedieval.bsky.social Can you help my astronomer friend out? Astrology is what comes to mind, a big astrological ephemeris.
Astronomy & science history folks, does anyone know more about what this would have been used for? Just saw it in the Saints, Sinners, Lovers, and Fools exhibit @romtoronto.bsky.social! 🔭

I'm guessing we're seeing a depiction of the "heavens" (celestial sphere). I also spot the names of the planets

It seems I will be flying on one of the last of Air Canada’s pixelated shit tier livery planes. Good choice with the not so new one.

Santo Stefano in Bologna is one of my favourite churches to visit. A structure so old it predates a lot of conventional church elements. My only lament from my last visit is the holy nocino was not available in the gift shop.

I moved to Burnaby 20 years ago. When I did so I stayed at SFU until I found an apartment. I went back on the weekend to retake some skyline photos. Things have changed.
