Audio drama icon and co-creator of Archive 81 @marcsollinger.bsky.social says "you'll get a kick out of Two Thousand and Late's end-of-the-world angst"!

A stylized graphic with a burning megaphone that says: If you're a burnt out millennial (or even if you aren't) you'll get a kick out of Two Thousand and Late's end-of-the-world angst, inescapable death-march of late-stage capitalism, and general feeling that everything's stacked against you. Plus, there are demons and emo rock - what more could you ask for. Marc Sollinger, co-creator of Archive 81

Finished a big writing project, so you know what that means… Popeye’s. Not sure why I only eat Popeye’s once I finish a big writing thing, but I’m into it. (Also, super excited about the BRAND NEW THING @stereophobe.bsky.social and I are working on)

For food: Dzô Viet Eatery is great, as is Mother’s Dumplings, Maha’s has lovely Egyptian brunch, Death in Venice Gelato and Moon Milk are wonderful if, like me, you're kind of obsessed with ice cream.

Art Gallery of Ontario is huge and wonderful (if you like the Met, you'll like AGO), MoCA is great if you're into contemporary art, St. Lawrence Market is fun but a bit touristy (you can get peameal bacon there), Monkey’s Paw Bookstore has a book vending machine and a bunch of fun old books.

it's so good, Christy.

hell yeah, straddling categories so we get put in our own bucket.

I KNOW I've divided both movies and podcasts into categories that allow me to add more but all those categories ARE different. to that end, generation crossing - a concept album meets audio drama - is going in its own bucket

It feels very Stanley Kim Robinson meets Le Guin, in a wonderful way.

This #AudioDramaSunday, gonna recommend something a bit different. @mikeduncan.bsky.social’s new season of Revolutions, which is, in a break from every other season… fictional! It’s about a revolution on Mars! And it’s fantastic to explore historical parallels in a sci-fi setting.

I’m also halfway through The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead, and it’s FANTASTIC so far, absolutely heartbreaking.
marcsollinger.bsky.social
Foster by Claire Keegan. This beautiful Irish novella about grief and family MIGHT be the best thing I read all month, aside from Caro. I recommend it highly, the ending will devastate you, and you can finish it in an afternoon.

It isn’t his best, and suffers slightly in comparison because another book of his, Cage of Souls, is set in a post-apocalyptic prison and it’s a goddamn masterpiece. But still, very good, and you should def check out Tchaikovsky. (Start with Elder Race)
marcsollinger.bsky.social
Alien Clay by Adrian Tchaikovsky. Tchaikovsky is one of my favorite sci-fi writers working today, and this book about a prison revolt on an alien world is weird and wonderful.
marcsollinger.bsky.social
It’s a bit Obama’s-favorite-book-core, and I wished it was just a tad subtler, but I still really liked it.
marcsollinger.bsky.social
The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store by James McBride. It’s set in the early 20th century and centers on this Jewish/Black community in Pennsylvania. The author did a wonderful job painting a picture of the setting, it felt so lived-in and vivid.

I also read their novella Livesuit, set in the same universe. It answered some of the questions posed by the novel, and it was fine. The twist is easy to see coming, but I enjoyed the slow, encroaching dread.
