This is excellent! Since we are rethinking at the History Department @uvahumanities.bsky.social all courses where essays are required, this is an insightful essay to start the discussion. Also, maybe even more important, an important (long) read for students on their first class of any course...
TEACHERS: If you're looking for a reading to assign, to help explain why you're banning AI from your classroom, here ya go.

There didn't seem to be one article that rounds up all the major issues. I tried to do that here, so it's a long read. Feel free to use/share as you like.

A reminder that there's about a week left to pitch your paper for this year's interdisciplinary Late Medieval France and Burgundy Seminar, the loveliest event of its kind, at Durham in mid-December! There's a great (and non-exclusive) theme, and it's lots of fun for ECRs and senior scholars alike!

Ploughing peasants on parchment and in stone now in Chantilly and Senlis. Tell me the differences 😀
What an amazing exhibition in of the Tres riches heures du duc de Berry!
But how little attention the peasants recieved both in expo and catalogue white in the end they paid for all this magnificence.
