My birbfest challenge for day 6! The Northern Emerald Toucanet!
A colored pencil sketch of a Northern Emerald Toucanet. They are bright green with turquoise and purple at the tips of their feathers, except for the tail, which has red tips. They have a bright yellow and black toucan shaped beak. They have a similar and dimensions to a toucan but are smaller.

A new World Bank report calls on governments to create dedicated Livable Streets Investment Programs, steadily scaling funding to 10% of road budgets by 2035.

Crowds of people walk, cycle, and dine while sitting along Manhattan streets that lined with protected bike lanes, planter boxes, and terraced areas. A car-free “school street” in Paris includes bike parking, vegetated areas, and white asphalt painted with colorful games. A green bollard sits in the middle of a pedestrianized cobbled street in Brussels. Rows of flowers hang over the street. People of all ages—from young to old—walk, sit, and play in a pedestrianized “school street” lined with planter boxes and wooden seating.

I love this. Children of adoption have a history that cuts them off from one possible future and puts them on the path for a completely different one. Having the ability to reclaim some of that original identity is huge; what a wonderful opportunity for these families.
