La fotografía relaciona la sombra y la realidad con la Cueva de Platón. La sombra nítida de la escalera en la pared rugosa simboliza las ilusiones y apariencias (el mundo sensible) que los prisioneros perciben. La escalera de madera es el objeto real que proyecta esa sombra, representando la Verdad o las Ideas de Platón, que están fuera de la cueva. La pierna ascendiendo sugiere el doloroso ascenso del alma hacia el conocimiento verdadero. La escalera es el camino filosófico para abandonar la ignorancia y la realidad de las sombras (la pared), buscando la luz de la razón. Os invito a cuestionar qué es real: ¿la sombra o el objeto que la proyecta?
