The best advice for folks building internal apps is "don't build frameworks" just pound out the code and don't get tricky.

I wish we had a third mobile platform that was more open and embraced web standards. The two we've got are increasingly close and locked into app stores.

Manditory service would fix a few of our nations woes. Basic civic literacy, basic health literacy, working in diverse populations. It would never happen of course, but I can see how it can help ground a population with a combined identity.
