Hey folks. Here's one of the animations I did showing an O'Neill Colony - basically a hollowed out cylinder in space. This one is 35km long and 9km across and spins once per minute (if I remember) to provide 1g gravity.

Please repost! Spread the love!

So glad I fled the mutated abortion that is Windows for Linux Mint. It just works. Will never go back, even if it means I can't use certain software anymore.

I do occasionally donate to the #Blender Foundation and Wikipedia. Feels good to give something back.
Blender is struggling. it's the best piece of 3d software on the market, and it's free. I'm not going back to autodesk.
please donate if you can!

A couple of renders to show experiments with hair made using curves in Blender. I was very used to the particle system and couldn't quite get the hang of this, but guys, it looks like this has a huge number of options.

PS: It's a WIP, maybe the final result will look like the second image.

Hi, folks

Just finished a revamp of my space-art website. It's an on-line gallery of my most recent space- and astronomy-related illustrations and animations:

www.space-art.co.uk/index.php

Please do give it a gander. And if you would be so kind, repost this for me. :-)

Quick illustration of a space fountain, made in #Blender. These are seemingly impossibly tall structures made possible with a bit of physics. Think frisbee floating on a vertical jet of water. Same concept is use to hold these things aloft.

Every time I see this image i just gawp at it. An icy space potato whose gravity shepherds the tiny particles in Saturn's F Ring and you can see its shadow, cast by a sun a billion kilometers away.

Lunar Liner, sometime in the 2100s. The whole ship would spin around its axis to provide some artificial gravity to the six inflatable passenger modules. The ship would be boosted via space tug to the moon, then return to pick up more passengers before being boosted again.

Lemmon orbits with a majestic and dynamic tail spanning a few degrees.

SWAN silently sails with almost no tail yet proudly marks its presence with a green glowing nucleus, a signature of diatomic carbon.
