Public policy supporting local news also hit an all-time high, with NY state passing a tax credit bill for $90M over 3 years, Illinois passing a bill for $25M over 5 years, with California making a deal with Google to spend $250M over five years. /3

An incredible higlight of the year was #PressForward announcing $100K grants to 205 smallish newsrooms including at least one in every state. With aligned funding, Press Forward has disbursed more than $170M this year! /2
