Razorbills are definitely my second favourite auks after puffins. The war paint and the golden mouths are just so photogenic.

Deciding where to go for your weekend wander? How about visiting @scotwildlife.bsky.social's Loch of the Lowes wildlife reserve and keeping an eye out for red squirrels? We’d love to know if you see any there!

Job done. These Isle of May Puffins have completed the job of raising a chick and now they look to leave. It won’t be long before they leave the island and won’t return until next March!

You may have noticed some changes to the way the map feature on our sightings page looks, or be experiencing some problems with loading it. Don’t panic, you can still submit your sightings, and this is a temporary issue.

A very unexpected arrival on The Isle of May last week, but a glorious one! I'd never seen a black-tailed godwit in summer plumage before. Isn't it gorgeous?

I spent last week on The Isle of May again and I'm slowly getting through a ton of photos but this one jumped out at me as a puffin landing is one image I was really trying to capture this year.

An arctic tern chick is watched closely by its mother on The Isle of May last summer. Hopefully more of them hatching this year (and not being eaten by an owl 😬).

I can't wait to get back to the Isle of May again this year. These guillemots (including a bridled one) and the arctic tern were taken last summer.

Kingfishers are small but beautiful and mighty birds. I watched this one dive many times to catch fish which I couldn't see with my lesser eyesight. I'm pretty sure this wee guy will be the cover star of my 2026 calendar and the year has barely started.

Same bird, same perch. Just seconds apart but a slight angle change gives two different backgrounds. Which do you prefer? #birdphotography #ukbirds

Probably a few more #kingfisher photos to follow. #addBirder

I've spent the past couple of days at the river watching a #kingfisher go about its daily life in #Scotland.
