Even Marjorie Taylor Greene is calling out her Republican colleagues for their refusal to lower health care costs and reopen the government.

Instead of working with Democrats to protect health care and reopen the government, Republicans are continuing to double down on their strategy of inflicting maximum pain on the American people.

White House Starts Mass Layoffs of Government Workers
OMB chief Russell Vought made the announcement on social media as the shutdown continued.

They don’t want you to realize that the House has been on a weeks-long paid vacation because they’re scared of a vote to release the Epstein Files.

What are they trying to hide?

Once again: if President Trump & Russ Vought decide to do more mass firings, they are CHOOSING to inflict more pain on people. “Reductions in force” are not a new power these bozos get in a shutdown.

We can’t be intimidated by these crooks.
Vought sounds layoff siren: 'The RIFs have begun'
At least nine agencies appear to be affected.

This latest round of federal firings is not an unfortunate byproduct of the government shutdown, but a deliberate choice.

Republicans are intentionally holding federal workers hostage to force through their agenda driving up health care costs for millions.

Trump is now routinely weaponizing the justice system to go after his political enemies.

If that isn’t authoritarian, I don’t know what is.
markwarner.bsky.social
Actually INSANE that Republicans are so unwilling to stop your health care costs from skyrocketing that they are refusing to even sit down to negotiate… and House Republicans have entirely stopped showing up to work at all.

My statement with @markwarner.bsky.social on the Trump Administration’s malicious prosecution of New York Attorney General Letitia James:
"A few weeks ago, Trump forced Erik Siebert, a highly-qualified prosecutor with a sterling reputation, to resign as interim U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia because he refused to bring trumped-up charges against James. Then, Trump installed to lead the Eastern District his personal lawyer Lindsey Halligan—a Florida insurance lawyer who is not licensed to practice law in Virginia and had prosecuted exactly zero cases in her life. By putting someone so unqualified in charge of one of the most important law enforcement offices in the country, Trump has made clear that he doesn’t care about keeping Virginians safe, only about weaponizing the justice system to punish his political opponents..." "...To prosecutors across America: the integrity of our justice system depends on your courage to resist political interference. History will remember those who stood firm in defense of the rule of law, and those who allowed themselves to be complicit in corrupt, politically-motivated prosecutions."

Republicans can end their shutdown and all the pointless pain it’s causing at any point.

Instead, they’re intent on raising your health care premiums and unleashing flight delays, missed paychecks, and chaos on Americans.

BREAKING: Donald Trump has weaponized his Justice Department against another one of his political enemies, Letitia James.

The government is shut down because Trump and the Republicans are hellbent on taking health care away from you.

And they won’t even come to the table to talk to us about it.

This is not about politics. It's about people.

Let’s break it down:

A quarter of our highly trained FBI agents have been pulled from their jobs fighting terrorists, spies, drug traffickers and violent criminals in order to carry out Trump’s immigration agenda.

Is this really making our country safer?
markwarner.bsky.social
Did you hear that shit?

Trump just can’t stop lying. The law is crystal clear: federal workers are entitled to backpay.
markwarner.bsky.social
Rigorous oversight at detention facilities benefits everyone, from facility personnel to the American citizens being erroneously picked up alongside your neighbors and community members. As Trump attempts to militarize cities like Chicago, we must continue to push for transparency.
markwarner.bsky.social
The “most transparent administration in history!” just furloughed the ICE office tasked with ensuring that people in immigration detention are kept safe.
markwarner.bsky.social
The Trump administration is threatening more illegal actions as part of a seemingly endless effort to “traumatize” federal workers. Enough is enough.
markwarner.bsky.social
Republicans would rather have widespread flight delays and a shuttered government than affordable health insurance for Americans.
markwarner.bsky.social
Real families. Real prices skyrocketing. This is what I am fighting to stop.
markwarner.bsky.social
The government has been shut down for almost a week.

Where’s the House of Representatives? Out of session, because they’re too afraid Democrats will call up a vote to release the Epstein Files.
markwarner.bsky.social
The text of the law is clear. This is totally illegal.

This is another illegitimate attempt by Russ Vought to “traumatize” hardworking civil servants, which seems to be what gets him out of bed in the morning.

Real Virginians are facing real cost increases. I will continue fighting to keep health care affordable.

American soybean farmers are struggling because Trump’s tariffs effectively ended their ability to sell abroad – an existential threat for the entire commodity.

Trump’s policies are an endless disaster that are already bankrupting families – and it’s just going to get worse.

What would you stop being able to afford if your premiums went up by $1,000?

Your insurance? Groceries? Rent?

This will be the reality for countless families soon. THIS is what Democrats are trying to stop.
