We closed our summer cottage yesterday, which signals the transition to hibernation season. I.e. winter. Hence, this is my last fall themed painting for this year. Watch for my next series of paintings starting next week. After all it’s November soon and time to get cozy indoors at least for me.
While many people consider them a weed and remove them I like to keep them as they attract butterflies including the increasingly rare monarch. Also the thistle have the coolest flowers; they are one of my favourite colours - purple.

Thistles grow among the grasses at our fire pit at the lake later in the summer and early fall.
Birch Fall - Original Painting
14” x 11”
Watercolour on Paper

This painting captures the intensity of the colours of fall-the oranges, yellows and rusts. It was inspired by the sun shining on the autumn leaves of a group of birch trees, which made them shimmer and almost glow.
It feels like fall is embracing and enlivening the spruce trees as they settle in for winter.#canadianshield #northwestontario #landscapepainting
Original Painting - Full Throttle Fall
14” x 11” Watercolour on paper

In this lively, vibrant painting the fall colours are at their peak. The reds of the sumac at the bottom reach for the oranges and yellows of the deciduous trees in the background.
The painting was inspired by grasses and trees in fall at our cottage in the Canadian Shield in Northwest Ontario. It would add a touch of nature at its peak to any decor.#abstractlandscape #landscapepainting

Fiery Fall captures the energy and spirit of new autumn colours in the Boreal Forest. The bright reds and yellows add warmth and vibrancy.
This 14” x 11” watercolour on paper captures the spirit of vibrant fall grasses. It’s as though they are celebrating the final days of a successful summer where they could play and grow endlessly. The deep green of the evergreen trees promise a return in the spring after the winter break.

Bold. Unapologetic. Unique. 🌲
“Standing Out from the Rest” (14” x 11”, watercolour on paper) captures the quiet courage of individuality amid the crowd — a single dark tree rising with strength and purpose against a lush forest backdrop.
Happy,Canadian Thanksgiving.
A celebration of the fleeting brilliance of autumn — where birch trees glow gold against fading greens and cool shadows. This watercolour captures that moment when the forest hums with colour before the quiet of winter.

This 14” x 11” watercolour captures the glow of autumn—lush greens, golden light, and fiery pops of orange flowing together in an expressive, layered landscape. A one-of-a-kind piece that brings the warmth and energy of fall into your home. ✨

Late summer light ripples through tall grasses— greens fading into pinks and golds as the season turns. A moment of quiet warmth before autumn arrives.
