Why is VE Day getting so much celebration in the UK? The end of WWII is the more important anniversary. Two reasons: it appeals to lingering anti German prejudice and the feeling that atomic bombs cancelled out Japan’s guilt for atrocities such as Nanjing and the medical experiments in Manchuria.

Why is VE Day getting so much celebration in the UK? The end of WWII is the more important anniversary. Two reasons: it appeals to lingering anti German prejudice and the feeling that atomic bombs cancelled out Japan’s guilt for atrocities such as Nanjing and the medical experiments in Manchuria.
It will be interesting to learn what Charles III will say to the man who wishes to remove the 2nd largest state on Earth from his Commonwealth of Nations.
