Charcoal sea, charcoal sky. Shipping forecast. My uncle and great grandfather were both sailors and it kind of rubbed off. My uncle came back from his time at sea with an enormous collection of photographs of vessels. #charcoaldrawing #britishsailors

Storm at sea, 🌊 daily sketches. #charcoaldrawing #martincoxstudio I’m clearly influenced by the 19th century maritime art surrounding me growing up on the Uk coast and absorbing it in to contemporary works in a variety of media.

That summer I got to return to the scene. I exhibited images from Terra Figmenta in The Fish Factory in Djupavik Iceland curated by Emilie Dalum. The factory long abandoned, complete with wrecked ship outside was a startling and evocative to show work. #iceland #djupavik #contemporaryphotography
