Nice day for spotting some old bits and bobs around town - particularly like the 'Picture Post' ad here, and if you look closely there's a 'Players' ad in the square painted frame on the left too..

Our #ArchiveOfTheWeek is this impressive A-level project by Trevor Jordan from 1977. It contains many photos, including ones of two limestone blocks which were once set into the Newhaven Tunnel, as well as other industrial archaeology features of the Cromford and High Peak Railway.

Nice to see Dropbox offering a 'simplified' version of their desktop app allowing support for users with older operating systems - my 2013 MacBook is happily (or maybe begrudgingly) still going!

Had another ramble around Birchen / Gardoms Edge today, always a real treat! I found a few more intriguing things to add to my enthusiasts survey including this rather peaceful cairn amongst the birch trees...

This time last year I was out and about on #GardomsEdge here in the #PeakDistrict carrying out my first enthusiasts field survey - since then I've learnt so much about this wonderful location and continue to discover more.

You can find the first part of my survey here - buymeacoffee.com/supportMTN

Always nice opening up a project file from 5 years ago and everything still works as it should... Not such a common occurrence these days!

I've been enjoying working on some transcription for the first #oralhistory interview I carried out recently - it's been a great process and such a pleasure being able to capture a recording of someone's story, and preserve that memory for the future.

Had a great afternoon with Create Sheffield and @sheffieldtheatres.bsky.social - wonderful to hear such passionate folks sharing their stories and insights.

Something for #mapMonday (as usual thanks to @natlibscot.bsky.social maps online)

A fave spot and one that has provided plenty of inspiration here at 'Wingfield Manor' surveyed in 1898 - the farm is still currently in use, converted from existing estate buildings...

I'm glad to have rediscovered our local lending library but I over estimated how quickly I could get through a book, and how many I should borrow at any one time... Current debt £1.20

I've been indulging in some eerie late 1970s television lately, in particular I've been enjoying 'Leap In The Dark' which ran for four seasons starting in 1973.

'Come And Find Me' from Series 4 is a real gem, with some stone tape theory and voice phenomena thrown in for good measure...

Stumbled across #FlixtonHouse and walled garden today... Built c1800 originally as part of a farm, lots of nice bits and bobs in and around! My fave is definitely the base of this sundial(?)...

Back in 2023 I recorded a long-form electronic piece inspired by the writings of #PeterBander and #KonstantinRaudive on the theory of #VoicePhenomena - 'A Question Of Belief' is free to download this weekend for #Samhain - enjoy!

Been having a nosey at Holywell Cross church recently (I used to go there as a young'un as part of a music project) Looks like there was a school on Devonshire Street first, then the church was either added or replaced it in around 1881...

Our latest #NewAccession are photos of the Enthoven and Sons factory, Darley Dale, in the #1980s. Acquired from a London-based firm in 1941 parent company Billiton UK Ltd redeveloped the site to provide melting, smelting and refining facilities for recycling lead.
