Unless there’s a recall option, we’re stuck with them. This is why media lies are so dangerous. Because we have to depend on voters to choose wisely. Something they haven’t been doing routinely.

Salary caps on executive pay, campaign contribution limits, tax reform with proportional rates — we’ve passed laws like this before. We’ve had such egregious legislative failures, we’ve forgotten what funding the commons feels like. We could add measures like this to the Constitution — if we could.

What’s the consequence for ignoring a federal judge?? I fear we’ll be facing that question in the near future.

I don’t know if these are the reforms we need, but your focus on design flaws hits the bullseye. There’s no way the founders could have foreseen how complex we would become, or how billions of dollars would ruin everything for everyone except billionaires.
