The tentacles are nice and bendy but I finis myself wishing they were more bendy. And he is massive. This was the Year of Marvel for me but I doubt lll be getting anymore. Unless we get a real awesome Groot…
His sassy attitude for an eldritch tentacled horror just spoke to me and he was my favorite any time I got to play that classic in the arcade. Now Hasbro has put out this magnificent toy of him! His eyeball is incredibly expressive.
Today’s Figure of the Day is the Marvel Legends Gamerverse SHUMA-GORATH! (I’m not calling him Gargantos. We all know who he really is).
Shuma Gorath as he appeared in Marvel Vs Capcom was secretly my back door into the Cthulhu mythos.
Fire Rodan from 1993s Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla II was one of the lesser versions. While he gained some fun breath effects, he lacked the originals charm by a lot. His figure is… fine, but he does help alleviate a lack of Rodans on my Kaiju Display.
Today’s Figure of the Day is the SH Monsterarts Makuhari Decisive Battle Fire Rodan!

1956’s Rodan is easily one of my top 5 Kaiju Films, but until the Legendary Films got ahold of him, he was never really done justice again.
But the Tie Defender? Oh that is so my jam. Tie Fighter fan for life. It’s glorious, looking exactly like what I would have wanted it to, and on a big stand that allows for a full range of display options. What a killer!

Now make the Onyx Cinder you cowards.
I’m not sure why I’ve always liked the Z95 considering it’s just a neutered X-Wing but I used to love shooting them down in Tie Fighter. It’s got removable panels to expose engine detail and a nice little stand.
Today’s Figures of the Day are the Jazzwares Micro Galaxy Squadron Probe Droid, Partisan Z95 Headhunter and Tie Defender!
MGS keeps drawing me back with my favorite ships. The Probe Droid was a wonderfully menacing design back in Empire and I’m thrilled to have one in the MGS line.
Today’s Tf Tuesday Figure of the Day is the Transformers Legacy Evolution Leo Prime!
He’ll always be Leo Convoy to me. They almost nailed this. The robot mode looks great and even has the matrix port, and the beast mode is pretty good - except that sad droopy face. Oof. Almost.
He also comes with three muck monster things. Overall a great little set!
Today’s Mini Monday Figures of the Day is the Epic Encounters Local Legends Ghost Pirates! The Local Legends line is just fantastic, each set including on large size mini and a few smaller mooks. When I saw the Ghost Pirate I immediately knew I wanted to go full Scooby Doo with it.
I do have a few minor quibbles - there’s a couple holes in the chest area, and I feel the trailer brick could have been better, and the individual Constructicons have minor flaws. But overall wow, what a package.
It’s taken me 35 odd years to finally get a Devastator toy and it was worth the wait
“PREPARE FOE EXTERMINATION.”
Wow. What a beast of a figure. He’s huge, and unlike every combiner I’ve handled before (which admittedly isn’t that many) he is a solid thick brick.
“CONSTRUCTICONS! MERGE FOR THE KILL!”
Today’s Figure of the Day is the Transformers: Studio Series 86 DEVASTATOR!
But now the Constructicons are complete! And tomorrow we’ll see what that means…
Extra doses of Decepticons this week as today’s TF Thursday Figures of the Day are the Transformers Studio Series 86 Scavenger and Mixmaster! The only interesting thing that ever happened to Scavenger is that he brutally murdered Prowl in TFTM. Mixmaster is cool but unremarkable.
“You probably haven’t heard of me because I’m a REAL deep cut.”

Today’s Figure of the Day is the Star Wars the Black Series Jaxxon! Ollies once again dishes the memes. Remember when Star Wars had green space bunnies? I remember. Kudos to Lego Star Wars for bringing this hoppy jerk back.
Today’s TF Tuesday Figure of the Day is the Studio Series Rise of the Beasts Scorponok!
… did these guys even transform in the film? No? Ok. The TF1 Scorponok was a better design but this is an all right, if silly, figure.
I’m very proud of the shoulders pads and various spikes. He certainly a beast and a collection highlight!
Today’s Mini Monday Figure of the Day is the Reaper Bone Khanjira The World Breaker!

I have painted a Tarrasque and it’s easily the largest mini yet! I decided on Blue because normal Tarrasque are a boring orange-brownish and with the Blue I was able to get a lot of interesting variation.
He comes with the (check notes) “Ultra Array” which is exactly the kind of nonsensical 60s prop gimmick I love, and his beam. And he looks damn snazzy in a cape and at the head of the Ultra Brothers.
Continuing the Ultradad theme, today’s figure of the day is the SH Figuarts Father of Ultra. The 1960s were wild. Father of Ultra initially appeared in Ultraman Ace, where hes implied to be the father of the Ultra Brothers. They retconed him to be the “father” (founder) of the Ultra Defence Force.
After picking up Mecha Gigantron, I had to complete the set. Ultradad was a great surprise in the film, and most importantly, he can do the Father and Son Specium Beam which wasn’t just my favorite part of the film, but one of my favorite moments in the entire Ultra Franchise
“So we going to do this together?” “Well I’m not going to do it alone!”

In honor of Dad who’s recovering from a broken wrist, the next two Figures of the Day are going to be a couple of Ultra Fathers! Today’s Figure of the Day is the SH Figuarts Ultradad from Ultraman Rising! .
She’s another top contender for figure of the year - ironically she and Mecha-Gigantron are two of the very few female Kaiju and they both turned out to be my some of my favorites this year!
