Agree D is the correct answer here, but distressed to see an account called ‘Brilliant Maps’ using the Mercator Projection

Try Irn-Bru **. Clears every food bolus, significantly reduces need for endoscopy, enhances health and improves productivity. (**peer reviewed evidence awaited)

This sort of problem is really quite unusual behaviour for humans. Other countries are available.

Affirmative gerrymandering?

Progressives have to fight back, but Newsome might tarnish himself in the process

🫁Reduced smoking rates have prevented 3.8million lung cancer deaths in USA alone since 1970

Not all lung cancer is caused by smoking, but a large portion of it is. Public policy can be very effective. All countries should move towards net zero tobacco

Averted lung cancer deaths due to reductions in cigarette smoking in the United States, 1970–2022
Lung cancer mortality rates in the United States have declined steeply in recent decades, largely because of substantial reductions in smoking prevalence, as approximately 85% of lung cancer deaths a....

I feel restless re AI in medicine because I can’t picture the end goal.

??medical fields with a small group of research active innovators, and a large workforce of nurses directed by AI?

Perhaps some physicians might be happy with gardening and leisure, but I don’t see that as desirable.

As a young FY1, I once foolishly admitted a 102 year old patient under general surgery:

Ward Round
Mr Surgeon: “Hello there dear… … would you like a cup of tea?”

Patient: “oh yes”

Mr Surgeon: “PLAN: cup of tea, the make make Geri’s take over care”

A careful version of this (exemptions for children, elderly, pregnancy etc) is not necessarily all bad

Many GP practices are basically local small businesses owned by the doctors who work there

In Australia & New Zealand patients pay a small fee to see GP, both have great public healthcare systems
premnsikka.bsky.social
Patients should pay £20 for a GP appointment as part of an insurance-based NHS, says former Tory Minister Sajid Javid.

It is a plan for mass democide of low/middle income families, sick, old and disabled to enable corporations/rich to profiteer.

Defend your rights or lose them.

Charge £20 for GP appointments, says think tank
Sajid Javid, who backs report by Policy Exchange, says Britain is ‘long overdue’ a ‘serious conversation’ about how the NHS is funded

Bills in progress indicate your elected representatives are voting for this batshit madness

Soo many politicians have a legal or economic skillset, but very few are scientifically or medically literate

One way to get politics out of science would be for more scientists to get elected into politics

Rolling back vaccine access while expanding unwarranted access to over the counter ivermectin is proof that we are living in a most idiotic timeline.

🤖Robotic AI Surgeons? Guardian article anticipates within 10 years. Extrapolates a trial of 8 post-mortem procedures on animal models.

Amazing work, but I see huge regulatory barriers before roll out of AI surgery, not to mention massive issues with acceptability to patients🤖

Untucked.

I would feel deeply dubious about a colleague who’s scrubs were tucked in.

(But also I’m an oncologist and try very hard not to wear scrubs at all)

There is no other wealthy country with the concept of ‘losing healthcare’

If Americans can wake up one morning without the access to healthcare, how many other basic human rights could you also lose?
mathewgwilson.bsky.social
This is exactly the sort of thing an AI would post on its social media accounts

100% agree tax on net wealth (or real estate ownership) badly needed and would help address multiple problems.

Still leaves us transferring wealth around the same shrinking economy. I think the government could pitch short term pain if it was part of a plan for real meaningful economic growth

She reminds me of Saddam Husseins spokesman ‘Comical Ali’ who had to make increasingly ridiculous daily statements about his bosses power and prestige during the Iraq war whilst the regimen was falling apart
