Fascinating interview and so much respect for Daw Myo Myo Aye. Her courage and sheer determination are humbling.

2 - We were told that some Western countries thought it would be a good idea to support AA resuming tourism in #Ngapali to support “the” revolution.

You have to be delusional to think it is a smart idea.

1 - @fortifyrights.bsky.social is doing fantastic work in #Rakhine on the atrocities committed against the Rohingya people who are suffering between Scylla and Charybdis.

The skew in global perception of the Cambodia-Thailand conflict stems from a fact closer to home: namely, that Cambodia doesn’t have a free press.
Why Cambodia Is Losing the Information War With Thailand
The lack of an independent press has made it hard for the government to communicate its side of the story.

As we had time to kill, we listened to two recent episodes of @insightmyanmar.bsky.social - quite boring.

The host is not a journalist, I get it. But gosh, spending 40+ minutes with Turnell to get banalities, misleading and half-baked insights, and complacency—thanks but no thanks.
And much less bullish than his messages on FB and elsewhere.
Are EAOs liable against International Laws due to the destruction and pollution induced by their (lack of) governance?
In addition to this, we have new laws enacted now (Cybersecurity and Elections), the end of the State of Emergency, a 40% tariff on exports to the US, some crap around rare earths, etc. Business as usual.

This is the case in other areas, too. Civilians are caught between armed groups, and no good option but to suffer.

Of course, the situation for the Rohingya is unacceptable and tragic — their suffering is immense.

Leverage, did you say leverage?

The US lifted some targeted #sanctions against some entities and individuals.

What will other partners do?

Looking forward to seeing @special-council.bsky.social and @justiceformyanmar.org reactions.

His letter for #Myanmar is not for the NUG…
Reading the reactions to Trump’s letter to MAH is quite funny and pathetic.

Sean Turnell is leading the pack on this, as he did after the recent article published by @economist.com

MYANMAR: "It is the first known polio case in Myanmar since 2019."

"those on the ground said the protracted conflict may make it difficult to trace the virus"

"The worst part of the situation is that these are absolutely vaccine preventable"
Not sure if Putin and his galaxy of vassals is a smart move.
