No, working all week now. Another one for the ‘dip list’! Can’t remember missing the same bird 2 days on the trot before…

Missed it by about 20mins, arrived at 2:40pm. While we were all down near the beach house it was seen in the original place again by 1 birder. Gone again when we walked back. Then showed again 45 mins after I left.

Nice to meet to you, no luck for me after 2 hours of trying.

Thanks to @olibeacock.bsky.social for pointing out the Oystercatcher, nice to see you again!

Thanks, it is indeed.

A glutton for punishment, I dipped the Greater Short-toed Lark AGAIN today. Should have gone for the RT Shrike. I did see this Leucistic Oystercatcher though, as well as some fantastic wader movements. #birds #ukbirding #leucism #norfolkbirding #norfolkdoubledip

A Slavonian Grebe at Collingham Pits was bird #257 of year, and the Lesser Yellowlegs at South Wootton was #258. No lifers today. #birds #ukbirding #nottsbirding #norfolkbirding

No luck on a very windy Snettisham beach today looking for the Greater Short-toed Lark with some other birders (it’s just turned up, as soon as I’m home again). I did meet a ‘very famous’ birder who told me he’d seen it “about 10 times”… which was at least a source of amusement. #norfolkdipping

Would have loved to go.. the family, less so! So that’s the reason for relief, not buggering off and leaving them for 0.5 a day, not because I wouldn’t enjoy the trip or the bird.

Approx 500 Pink-footed Geese are feeding on stubble fields between Keelby and Habrough, Lincs this evening.

Great read and a nice positive ending, made me smile. I know what you mean about a long drive.. I am almost relieved the Marsh Sand hasn’t been seen today, now I don’t *have* to go!

Oh to retire and do this for a living!

Good luck. Another week of work for me, only get 1 chance at week really.

Contemplated it myself, but when the Lesser Grey Shrike was there, it didn’t make any sense. 6hr drive instead of 10hrs…

Oh no, sorry to hear that. Seeing it is the main thing though.

A quick visit to Frampton Marsh yielded this brief Merlin in the heat haze. I have never seen Frampton so dry, which was a shock. As were the 3 wildfowlers with dogs, as I was leaving, talking loudly about their dogs “finishing off a duck”. Ugly mentality of these people. #lincsbirding #merlin

Fingers crossed. Seen a few more abroad but not really sure, so don’t count them.
