If this is turning into a battle, then the researchers’ possible counter is to normalize updating preprints and CVs with “accepted at journal x” as sufficient for getting publication credit and not pay the fees.

I've yet to see you use 'game-changer' to describe AI releases. You're good!

How do you fix #PeerReview to be more ethical, streamlined, and affordable? 🧪

Here's an unsolicited reminder to critically think about the age of a reference in your research. Avoid the bias of chronocentrism, that the present is ALWAYS better than the past. Just because an article is old (like from the "1900's") does not inherently affect the quality of the findings.

I use the paid notion but used the free one for years. Great for tracking manuscript progression, databases of presentations and conference notes, and has a publish option to create an accessible web version of any page which is nice for a CV-style page. Obsidian is also nice for notes.

Hadley Wickham in a white t-shirt and jeans sits on a light-colored couch across from Michael Chow, wearing a dark green shirt and pants, who is seated on an orange pouf. Between them is a white coffee table with books. In the background, there's a dark bar with shelves displaying numerous bottles, a wood-paneled wall, and a black, modern fireplace. Text overlay reads "Hadley Wickham CHIEF SCIENTIST, POSIT".

Halfway through 2025. What keywords would you tag this year with so far?

tariffs, switch 2, DOGE, NIH funding cuts

🤞Hope to add Artemis II to the list

Hoping for remakes or mods of classic games as "talkies" now with the advancements of voice models. Chrono Trigger, FF7, Kings Quest 6, Super Mario RPG, etc
